Over the years, it seems as if cremation has become a much more popular choice when compared to burials. This is highly likely due to the cost of burial plots and caskets. Unfortunately, not all loved ones want to have a plain urn sitting on their mantel with a deceased family member's ashes in it. While they want to keep their loved one around and close to them, the thought of having ashes nearby is a bit frightening. At the same time, it saddens them to scatter the ashes across the ocean and never see them again. Luckily, there are a large number of options available, including the following:

1. A Memorial Tattoo

As long as you don't mind a little bit of pain, you may want to consider getting a memorial tattoo with your loved one's ashes. You will have to do a little bit of legwork and find a tattoo artist who will mix your loved one's cremated ashes with tattoo ink, but this may be an excellent choice of keeping your loved one as close to you as possible. They'll definitely always be with you everywhere you go. Just make sure you also talk to your healthcare provider about any possible health risks that may be involved.

2. Blown Glass Jewelry

If you like blown glass, you may want to find an artist in your area who specializes in this form of art and see if they can incorporate cremated ashes into a piece of jewelry for you. This may be a necklace or even a pair of earrings. Or if jewelry isn't necessarily up your alley, they may be able to create a memorial paperweight, flower case or another type of keepsake for you that you will allow you to keep your loved one close.

3. A Teddy Bear

For little ones who have lost their parents or even grandparents that they were very close to, you could consider having cremated ashes placed inside of a teddy bear for them. Technically, these teddy bears are actually urns that are soft and cuddly for children. Inside, there is a pouch that can hold the cremated ashes of the loved one who has passed away. If your little one doesn't like teddy bears, other animals can also be purchased, such as elephants and kitty cats.

4. Stained Glass

Stained glass can be relaxing to look at, but it can be that much more calming to enjoy if you know that you are in the company of your deceased loved one. Like tattoo artists, some stained glass artists will mix their paint with the cremated ashes of your loved one and then create a beautiful window piece that you can hang in your window and enjoy every day for the rest of your life.
